Why not just use computer software?

Design quality. The looseness, sketchy, almost painterly feel of a drawing encourages exploring, thinking, scribbling, getting your hands dirty, until, "AHA!" An idea unfolds - sometimes by accident. You cannot achieve this same right-brained outcome using a program that clicks out hard, polished, machine-like, over-defined products at every step.
Credibility. Show your client a freehand sketch, or better still, draw the sketch right there in front of the client - watch the eyes light up! In my experience there is a palatable difference in the emotional response you get from a viewer with a hand-drawn sketch, versus a computer image.
Fun! I have not yet met a skilled and passionate designer who did not also enjoy sketching. As a teacher, I also find over and over that the finest design students are the same students who have an inner desire to draw. Once you learn how, sketching can be a creative, meditative, and joyous activity.
Computers are great tools…embrace both 'high-tech' and 'high-touch' to gain the best of both worlds! If your mindset is to turn to the computer as the tool to solve every problem, then this course is not for you. In the end, the desire to learn to sketch has to be inside you.
